April,10,2020. Honorable Premier John Horgan, Ambedkar International Social Reforms Organization (AISRO) Canada is a non-profit, non-religious and non-political organization. Bharat Rattan, (The Highest Civilian Award of India), Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar ( 14 April 1891 – December 6, 1956) was a world-renowned jurist, economist, sociologist and a political thinker. The Chief Architect of the Indian Constitution, Dr. Ambedkar, made several provisions in the Constitution to emancipate millions of Dalits (the lower caste population in India) from the centuries-old oppression by the higher castes. He was a “Champion of Human Rights and a steadfast advocate of Equality.” There are thousands of Ambedkarites living in British Colombia. We celebrate April 14, every year in a befitting manner. This year, however, due to COVID-19 it is not safe to gather together on this occasion. It is a matter of pride for us that On April 6, the City Council of Burnaby proclaimed April 14 as “Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Day of Equality.” We, therefore, request you to acknowledge Dr. B.R. Ambedkar also in your Public Address along with your message on April 13 to the Sikh Community on the occasion of Vaisakhi Day Celebrations.
